Positions vacant on the Committee…..League Secretary and Committee Members

At the AGM on Tuesday 7 July 2015, we will be looking to fill the following positions on the Committee of the DMC Leisure Saffron Walden and District Snooker League in order that we can keep the Snooker League running smoothly during the seasons ahead.

League Secretary – Unfortunately due to unforeseen circumstances, Shaun Hunt who joined the Committee at the AGM in June 2014 as our new League Secretary had to step down early into the season and we are keen to refill this important committee position as soon as possible. We are looking for someone who can commit to help run the snooker league 2-3 hours per month, is organised and has basic computing skills to use email, type meeting agendas/minutes etc.

Without a new League Secretary, the league cannot function properly and it is important that this position is filled.  The Committee will offer all necessary support to the person taking up the role to ensure a smooth handover whilst they are getting up to speed.  The Committee were very grateful to Peter Saville for once again taking on this role following Shaun’s resignation during the 2014/15 league season, as well as undertaking the roles of Treasurer and Website Administrator.  As a consequence of this however, Peter has indicated to the Committee that he may not stand for re-election at this year’s AGM unless the position of League Secretary is filled.

Committee Members – Subject to compliance with League Rule 4, ‘The League Management Committee shall have a maximum of two officers and two Committee members registered with the same club’, we would welcome any league member who wishes to join the Committee.  Currently we have no representation from Newport Club.

If you are interested in either of these positions on the Committee then please contact either Peter Saville or Adam Ingram in the first instance for further information or come along to the AGM and put your hand up!

Player Of The Year / Achievement Award Nominations
The Committee invite all league members to nominate a player for the following annual awards which will be handed out at Trophy Presentation / Finals Evening on Saturday 30 May 2015.
1.  Three Player Division Player Of The Season
2.  Four Player Division Player Of The Season
3.  Achievement Award (can be a player or team)

Please email swdsl@live.co.uk with your nominations and a brief reasoning as to your choice;

a nomination for the Player Of The Season will probably reflect a player who has a either a high or consistent win ratio in league matches during the season, and/or reached the quarter finals stage or beyond in the league tournaments which may include the one day tournaments.

a nomination for the Achievement Award is for an outstanding snooker achievement by a individual player or team during the season either in one frame or over a period of time, ie a player may win 10 straight frames in a row or may have knocked in his/her highest league break etc.

All entries received by the Committee will be considered on their individual merit prior to a final decision being made, and please remember that you cannot vote for yourself!

All entries must be received no later than Sunday 3 May 2015.

And Finally…
Snooker Rules Refresher / Referees Seminar – Sunday 1 March 2015
Congratulations to Danielle Findlay who successfully passed her EASB Grade 3 Referees examination under the strict observation of Daniel Lewis.
